Big Picture Festival

In early October Newcastle held it’s inaugural Big Picture Festival. 14 international and local artists created big, bold murals transforming the city’s buildings.

Last weekend the lure of the murals got too much. I finally went to investigate. What great job they did. Each mural tells a story and shows the artists style. Personally, I think my two favourites were by Jordan Lucky (below) as I loved the colour involved in them.

I’m in two minds as to whether I would have preferred to have seen the artists creating them. In some ways I like the wow factor of the completed mural. Although seeing the techniques used to create the lady behind glass above would have been fascinating.

I love exploring the hidden details of street murals and I am sure next time I walk past them I will find other hidden surprises I missed the first time.

Christmas Calendar 2017 # 1

Welcome to Inspiring Max’s 2017 Christmas Calendar countdown. This year I have decided to mix it up a bit and do the twelve days of Christmas.

Every Christmas is colour themed in our family. All family members despite age can nominate any colour or combination of colours and lobby others to get their vote. Last years winner and the colour of this years Christmas Calendar was Grey and Lavendar, affectionately known as Gravendar.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Transition

For this week’s challenge, share an image that depicts transition. Let life itself be your muse.

When he designed the Sydney Opera House I am sure that JØRN UTZON  could not have envisaged the amazing displays this centerpiece of VIVID SYDNEY creates each year. I spend hours fascinated by the transitions that unfortunately because of their speed are difficult to photograph. The following photos are from 2014 and I loved the bright colours. If you are in Sydney during late May or early June it is well worth the visit.

P – Pretty # A -Z Challenge

Write about anything you’d like, but make sure that all seven colors of the rainbow — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet — make an appearance in the post, either through word or image.

In New Zealand I found some bright and surprising sights that covered all the colours of the rainbow. They all brought a smile to my face.
